NBC.com > Joey
Well... if anything else, I miss Friends. It was such a good show, full with laughter and love and all.
Now the Friend's spin-off, Joey, is clearly not doing that great. I wasn't surprised at all when it's name didn't even come up in the Global Awards.
Comparing with Friends is meaningless, since it's uncomparable. I mean, it's like 1/6 of Friends. How can one compare a nickle to a quarter? (value-wise, of course)
For those of you who knows me by person, I don't watch TV at all. Well, I used to watch 無敵鐵金剛 when I was a kid. And maybe some Sailor Moons and Power Rangers when I got a lotta of times to waste. But nowadays, with Internet and all, I just don't watch TV anymore.
If there's a program I'd like to watch, I'll just d/l it. And watch it whenever I want. Why sit in front of the TV at a specific time on a specific date while you are forced to watch all the commercials? Well, unless it's like a LIVE show where the Internet is still not fast enough to see it clearly, usually I'll choose d/l programs over TV.
Okay, that's just my opinion on TV, no offence to anyone who still watches TV, back to the Joey stuff.
Since I loved Friends so much, i was happy to see at least one of them is back on the track.
At the very beginning, nothing seems majorly wrong about the new show. I mean, it still makes me laugh... but somehow, there's always something that doesn't seems right...
I think the biggest problem with Joey is that their jokes are rather ... eh ... what's the word ... inappropriate?
They keeps making fun of people who are not as smart (Joey, Gina), people with disability (Howard), people who would do anything for money (Joey's assistance, Brian Michael David Scott), people who are somewhat mentally ill (Bobbie, Gina) and people who are suppose to be nerds (Michael, Seth).
Whenever these kinda jokes come up, sometimes I don't even know if I'm suppose to laugh or not. I simply find it not funny at all laughing at people's disability and/or problems.
Unless they do some major change about they way things are right now, I bet that this show will be dead by the 2nd or 3rd season.
I'll probably still d/l and watch it. But I'll probably delete it right after I've seen it. Won't try to save it up and burn on a CD like I did with Friends.
It's just not as good. Period.
And one last word, the joke about Joey can sleep with ANY woman in town has been used WAY TOO MANY times. It's not even that funny anymore.
